EP18EO Workplace safety for nurses is evaluated and improved.
EP18EOb: Provide two examples, with supporting evidence, of improved workplace safety for nurses resulting from the safety strategy of the organization. Supporting evidence must be submitted in the form of a graph with a data table that clearly displays the data.
Code Green data were reported to demonstrate the reduction in the use of this emergency announcement by the staff in the ED over time. Pre-initiative ED nursing staff perception of safety data were provided; however, post-initiative (trended) nursing staff perception of safety data were not provided to demonstrate that workplace safety for nurses improved as a result of a safety strategy of the organization.
Provide pre- and post-initiative (minimally, 3 data points) RN perception of safety data to demonstrate that the workplace safety for nurses improved as a result of the organization’s safety strategy to deal with disruptive patients, visitors, and/or families, as well as threats to staff, including assault and battery in the ED. If the data are not available, a new example may be provided. Provide data as requested in the 2014 Magnet Application Manual, pages 60-61.
